Tottenham Football Club

The Brief

Fusion Surfaces was approached by Tottenham Hotspur Football Club, the prestigious Premier League team housed in London’s largest club stadium with a capacity of 62,850, to refresh 270 tables and 58 doors within their multi-use stadium. Despite the stadium’s recent 2019 opening, the heavy traffic from hosting Spurs matches, NFL games, boxing, rugby, and concerts had taken its toll on the furniture. Eager to maintain the high standards befitting their state-of-the-art facilities, Tottenham Hotspur sought a solution that could revitalise their interiors quickly and efficiently, aligning with their rigorous event schedule.

The Consultation

Our initial site assessment revealed the extent of wear and tear that the stadium’s furniture endured. In collaboration with Tottenham Hotspur’s facilities team, we selected LX Hausys architectural film and the new MiA range from Metamark’s interior film collection to match the existing décor. These materials were chosen for their durability and aesthetic flexibility, which are critical in high-traffic environments like Tottenham’s stadium. Sample materials and finishes were sent to the club for approval, ensuring the final products would perfectly complement the stadium’s sophisticated palette of dark woods and beige tones for the furniture and blue, white and light black for the doors.

The Process

Given the tight timeline dictated by the stadium’s busy event calendar, we deployed a team of eight skilled installers who worked over two days to wrap 270 tables, many featuring challenging round or curved edges. Each table was prepared properly; surfaces were filled and sanded to ensure a flawless application of the architectural film. In addition, the door refurbishment required careful handling, particularly for those with integrated vision panels and electronic fob systems. Our team managed to execute the task with minimal disruption to stadium operations, wrapping doors in a range of colours from crisp whites and blues to subtle blacks.

The Transformation

The transformation was dramatic. The worn tables now appear rejuvenated and mirror brand-new furniture, thanks to the chosen wood and beige films. The doors, previously marred by peeling paint and scuffs, were refreshed with a sleek, fresh finish that enhanced the visual of the stadium’s varied spaces.

The Outcome

The project culminated in a visibly transformed venue that Tottenham Hotspur was proud to showcase. The updated doors and tables not only enhanced the overall look of the stadium but also improved the supporter experience, reaffirming the club’s commitment to excellence and innovation in all aspects of its operations. The feedback from club management and patrons alike was overwhelmingly positive, with particular accolades for the quality of finishes and the seamless integration of the new features into the existing interior design.

Client Advantages

The use of architectural film provided Tottenham Hotspur with significant cost savings over traditional refurbishment methods. Moreover, the vinyl wrapping approach minimised environmental impact by preserving existing structures, thereby reducing waste destined for landfill. Previously, the doors have been resprayed, but the club noted that this was not a fitting solution as it did not last long enough to be cost-effective for them.

This project exemplified how the use of architectural films can meet the dual demands of luxury and sustainability in the sports venue market.

Conclusion

Fusion Surfaces’ project at Tottenham Hotspur Football Club proves that interior vinyl wrapping is becoming the go-to solution for a wide range of surfaces that are in need of refurbishment. Through strategic planning, skilled execution, and collaborative client relations, we delivered a timely, cost-effective, and eco-friendly solution that stands up to the rigours of a premier sporting venue. As well as highlighting the versatility of architectural film in enhancing large-scale facilities, our work at Tottenham Hotspur is a testament to the work we are proud to deliver, and the skill of our installation team.

Rosie Christie

Co-Founder

Older than the rest of the team, but not necessarily wiser as she’d like to think. There’s not an activity under the sun that she’s not been willing to have a go at, resulting in a mediocre ukulele player, part-time blogger, one-time skydiver and an unfinished sitcom script. There’s no room for shades of grey in this half of the partnership; everything comes down to looking after people who are important.

Organising tradesmen is not a task for the fainthearted. But recruiting the right tradesmen, ones who align with our values and are highly skilled at what they do makes for a much more harmonious project management process. Rosie’s role begins with a meeting to discuss your requirements, providing you with a quotation and carries through to the on-site management of your project.

Jade Mitchell

Co-Founder

She’s the only Southerner on the team, but we try not to hold it against her too much. If anything, we’ve enjoyed introducing Jade to a vast number of pie shops now she’s a Northern resident. Standing at a phenomenal 5’2”, she is living proof that big things come in small packages; a mix of infectious enthusiasm, laughter, loyalty, authority and uncanny Theresa May impressions.

Communicating with our clients is Jade’s forte. Being highly organised and placing customer satisfaction at the forefront of everything she does means that from enquiry to completion, your queries will be dealt with efficiently. For an in depth knowledge of the material specification of our interior film, Jade is your woman. She will put your mind at rest that not only do we install this product, but we make sure that is the most suitable for your needs.
